The Praying Family

Matt 18:19 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My father in heaven.
When looking for a mate most believers will tell you they desire someone who loves the Lord and put him first above everything else. Someone who is strong spiritually or someone who is seeking to be closer to the Lord each day. Some have gotten the very person they desired but they don't read, pray or seek the Lord together like they first initially stated.
People can be funny or very fickle at times. A Christian woman or man will say they desire a mate who puts God first in everything but when they get married and their mate begin to base their decisions on the principles of the bible, instead of them supporting their partner’s decision they begin to question it especially if it goes against what they want to do. Or some, if they notice their partner is stronger than they are, instead of them encouraging them many will try to tear their partner down. Or say things that will cause their partner to feel terrible for being committed or having a close relationship with the Lord. I knew someone who was literally crying and told the person they wanted to be with they knew the person was going to love God more than them.
I’ve heard them say the family that prays together stay together. Though this is not a scripture in the bible I believe this statement strongly. I feel one of the ways for a husband and wife or two people dating to get closer to each other is for them to pray together or do either bible study or devotionals. There are many people out there who are in a family or a marriage where they are the only believer. They don’t have anyone close by them to encourage them, to pray for and over them, to even go to and speak about things God has laid on their hearts without them being considered crazy. Many of us however have families, spouses or relatives living with us who are believers yet we don’t take advantage of this.
For those of us who live in a household where our parents are believers or even another brother or sister, we should consider ourselves bless. The bible tells us that iron sharpens iron, it’s not a coincidence there is another believer in the house. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. I also believe if we prayed together as a family, whether husband or wives, parents or children or even as siblings; we wouldn’t stay angry or upset at each other over a lot of stupid things. The bible speaks about the power of agreement when it says if any two should agree as touching anything. I think there are certain things we might pray for by ourselves but if we had someone else agreeing with us, we might get that break through sooner. Not only has the enemy been successful at causing us to be separated in the church through all these denominations, he has also separated us in our homes. You will have people in a household who all claim to be believers yet they never pray together, do bible study together or even seek the Lord’s will together in certain situation. I not only believe that prayer changes things I also believe prayer can change hearts. I encourage you, if you live with someone in your household who is a believer, take advantage of it. Don’t wait until something bad happens to go ask them to pray for you or stand with you.
Think about this, you could know someone loves you but don’t it make a difference when you actually hear them say it or see them doing things to prove they really do. We can pray for members in our family but can you imagine how they will feel if they hear you actually lifting them up before God. Another thing, if you desire someone to support you spiritually in your relationship and you're dating now but don’t do anything spiritual. If you are waiting until “marriage” to start, chances are it won’t happen. You have to start laying the foundation from now.
